Puzzle Piece 4/4 – Keep climbing and after going off two bounce pads you’ll be at the very top of the plaza, where you can find this puzzle piece. The follow-up to the original PS VR uses headset-mounted cameras rather than lights, and has a vibration motor. The interior display is four times the resolution of the original, and 3D audio adjusts with your head position. Eye tracking also allows for foveated rendering, where areas you aren’t looking at will not be given priority in order to optimize game performance.

If you get it wrong, then you’ll need to scale the hill again, grab another bunch of bananas, and retry the dance minigame. If you’re successful, you’ll unlock the bot and get the “No Escape! Stand at the edge of the level and throw the projectile towards it to reveal the location of the bot. First, activate the first two rope bridges by pulling the wires out of the ground. Codenamed Project Morpheus, the PlayStation VR was Sony’s first virtual reality headset, featuring twin 120hz OLED displays with 100 degrees field of view, an integrated microphone, and motion sensors. It required the PlayStation Camera as it used the same tracking technology used for the PlayStation Move. Move controllers were also used for the hand-tracking controllers, although some games used the DualShock 4. The DualShock Controller is one of the most recognizable pieces of PlayStation history, and replaced the original pad as the pack-in controller. It added twin analog sticks (which could be pressed in for L3 and R3), a small and large rumble motor in either handle, and increased the height of the L2 and R2 buttons.

This references the 2002’s Ratchet & Clank on PS2, developed by Insomniac Games. The wrench refers to Ratchet’s melee weapon, the Omniwrench, while the Bolts refers to the currency in the Ratchet games. When you first enter the rainy section of Gusty Gateway, far in the distance to the right is a giant bird harassing/helping a Bot with a giant feather. This is a reference to the infamous The Last Guardian which eventually released in 2016 and was made by Team Ico. The Bot holding a feather refers to the game’s boxart, while the moment where he falls off and is saved by the bird references the E gameplay demo. Up the same cliff as the Ico easter egg, on the opposite side you can find a crowd observing a Bot teeing off with a golf club while wearing a PS VR headset.
For example, the roller ball goes from being asphalt paths to a pinball machine-like level, while the ship mostly stays the same but has a fun boss to beat with its rockets. In between each standard platforming level are dedicated sections to unique suits for Astro. Memory Meadow, for instance, Astro becomes a little roller ball that uses the Dualsense’s trackpad for control instead of the left thumbstick. Astro’s Playroom is a very simple and small in-scale and scope game. Every bit of platforming presents almost no challenge, and so do the enemies.
Spin all three to raise the platform they are on, revealing this puzzle piece. Puzzle Piece 1/4 – As soon as the level starts, turn around and head back across the platforms to find this puzzle piece. Puzzle Piece 2/4 – After reaching the next group of enemies circling a platform, go to the left where you can pull a wire and reach a tightrope. Puzzle Piece 1/4 – In the next section there are two groups of enemies walking in circles around a patch of dirt.

[edit] Memory Meadow guide is a bit wrong, no point getting the canister with a net in it at the start as you need your hands free to pull out the two cables to walk across first. If you’re having trouble getting those new messages to pop up, you might try waiting until you’ve completed the relatively short game’s main campaign. We had trouble getting the message to appear on a new save file but saw it immediately upon entering a completed one.
Each of the four main zones are themed after hardware concepts such as the SSD Speedway and the Cooling Springs. Cooling Springs for example is chocked full of various PS3 models, the PS Sharp Shooter gun, the PSP, Vita, and so on. Astro’s Playroom is not that game, as it’s quite short and still at least 50% tech demo, but since so few will ever get to play Rescue Mission it’s an important step towards that goal. It’s also free with every new PlayStation 5, so it’s the one game that you can almost guarantee everyone will play – and it gives a very good first impression. Puzzle Piece 4/4 – Once you reach the section of the level where it is raining, before going up the dark wall, jump to the platform on the right to reach this puzzle piece. Puzzle Piece 1/4 – Right at the start of the level, look down and to the left to see a group of three of the spinnable flowers.
